At Focusito, we respect your privacy and believe that the less we know about you, the better both for you and for us. We do not collect any personal data through Focusito unless you voluntarily provide it to us (e.g., by sending a support email). The app does send anonymous usage statistics that help us understand which features people use and where they get stuck — see Usage Analytics below for exactly what that includes, what it never includes, and how to switch it off. Focusito's LoFi player streams music from YouTube, and that connection is described in LoFi Player and YouTube. We limit the information we collect to the minimum necessary to provide you with our service and improve Focusito. Our business is developing and selling software, not your personal data.
Below, we've provided detailed information on when and why we collect your personal data and how we use it. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before providing any personal data to us.
The desktop application Focusito for macOS (collectively, "Focusito") and the related website https://orsolabs.dev (the "Website") are owned and operated by Vladyslav Gorokhovskyi ("we", "us", and "our"), registered in Kyiv, Ukraine.
When we ask you to provide us with your personal data or if you contact us, we act as a data controller with regard to your personal data. It means that we are responsible for deciding what personal data can be collected from you and how it can be used.
Focusito stores your data (your timer and sound settings, your session statistics, the list of LoFi streams including any you add yourself, and your trial and purchase state) locally on your Mac device.
This data is not transferred to or stored on our servers, nor do we have access to, own, or use this data in any other manner. Focusito has no user accounts and no cloud synchronisation: nothing you do in the app leaves your Mac except as described in the two sections below.
The anonymous usage statistics described below are the one exception, and they are not this data: they are a small set of counters and coarse ranges (for example "a focus session was completed" and "between 5 and 9 sessions today"). Your actual session history, with its dates, times and durations, stays on your Mac.
Focusito's LoFi player plays music streams through YouTube's embedded player, which runs inside a web view in the app. The streams are YouTube videos and live streams: the built-in list that ships with Focusito, and any stream you add yourself by pasting its YouTube link. Focusito has no YouTube or Google sign-in, and it never asks for your Google account.
The LoFi player requires macOS 14 or later. On macOS 13 it is not loaded and Focusito makes no connection to YouTube at all. On macOS 14 and later, Focusito loads the player together with its main window so that a stream is ready to play, and from that point — as well as while a stream is playing — your Mac communicates directly with YouTube (Google) servers (youtube.com and i.ytimg.com), in the same way a web browser would. YouTube receives your IP address, the identifier of the stream being prepared or played, and the standard technical information any web request carries (such as the browser engine version and your language). The embedded player may store its own cookies and site data inside Focusito's web view; that data stays in Focusito's sandboxed container on your Mac and is not sent to us.
To show stream titles, channel names and thumbnails, Focusito requests them from YouTube's public metadata and image servers for every stream in your list — including streams you added yourself. The only thing sent in these requests is the stream's YouTube video identifier. When you add or edit a stream, Focusito also fetches that video's public page to learn its duration and whether it is live. Thumbnails are cached in Focusito's cache folder on your Mac. To tell whether the internet is reachable, Focusito periodically makes a tiny request to youtube.com that carries no data about you.
We do not receive any of this information. Google is an independent controller of what it receives from your Mac; its use of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. Your stream list, including the links you add, is stored only on your Mac and is never sent to us.
Focusito sends anonymous product analytics so we can see where people get stuck and improve the app. We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, as our processor for this. It receives only what is listed below, and it is contractually bound to protect that information to at least the standard described in this policy.

This information is not used for advertising, is not sold or shared with data brokers, and is not used to track you across other apps or websites. Focusito contains no advertising software and no advertising identifier.
Your choice. Analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time in Focusito → Settings → Privacy. Turning it off stops all collection immediately, and nothing is sent from that point on. It does not restrict any feature you have paid for.
Because the identifier described above is a hashed random value with no account behind it, we have no way to connect this information to you, and therefore no way to look it up or delete a specific person's records on request. Turning the switch off is what stops collection.
If you have opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in your Mac's System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized device analytics that cannot be used to personally identify you. Please refer to the privacy policies of Apple to check how they process such data.
When you make payments related to Focusito, you submit your payment details to Apple that processes your payments. We do not collect your payment data and do not have any access to it. Please refer to the privacy policies of Apple to check how they process your payment data.
We do not use any cookies on the Website, and Focusito itself does not set any. The embedded YouTube player inside the LoFi player is operated by Google and may store its own cookies and site data within Focusito's web view, as described in LoFi Player and YouTube above; we have no access to them.
When you contact us by sending us an email, we collect your email address, name, and any other information you provided in your message voluntarily. This information is collected to help resolve your inquiry. If you would like to remove the emails you have sent, please let us know. The legal basis on which we rely is "pursuing our legitimate business interests (i.e., grow and maintain Focusito and the Website)" and "your consent" (for optional personal data that you voluntarily provide).
You can contact us for customer support at: [email protected]
If you decide not to provide us with your personal data when requested, we may not be able to perform the requested operation (e.g., to reply to you).
We do not disclose or sell your personal data to third parties.
Three services receive information directly from your Mac in connection with Focusito. Payments are processed by Apple. YouTube (Google) delivers the LoFi streams as described above and is an independent controller of what it receives. TelemetryDeck processes the anonymous usage statistics described above on our behalf and provides the same or equivalent protection of that information as stated in this Privacy Policy. We do not use advertising networks, marketing trackers or data brokers.
We use industry-appropriate organizational and technical measures to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, and disclosure. The security measures used by us include secured networks, strong passwords, limited access to your personal data by our team, and anonymization of personal data (when possible).
You can exercise your rights listed below, unless, in very limited cases, the applicable law provides otherwise:
If you would like to exercise any of your rights, please contact us by email at [email protected] and explain your request in detail. In order to verify the legitimacy of your request, we may ask you to provide us with an identifying piece of information that allows us to identify you in our system. We will answer your request within a reasonable time frame but no later than 30 days.
If you would like to launch a complaint about the way in which we process your personal data, we kindly ask you to contact us first and express your concerns. If we receive your complaint, we will investigate it and provide you with our response as soon as possible. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We do not discriminate against you if you decide to exercise your rights. It means that we will not (i) deny any goods and services, (ii) charge you different prices, (iii) deny any discounts or benefits, (iv) impose penalties, or (v) provide you with a lower quality service.
We store your personal data only as long as such personal data is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or until you request us to delete your personal data. After your personal data becomes no longer necessary for its purposes and there is no other legal basis for storing it, we will immediately securely delete such personal data from our databases and service providers.
Your non-personal data may be retained for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including for the time period needed for us to pursue our legitimate business interests. In certain cases prescribed by law, we are obliged to store your personal data for a limited period of time (e.g., for archiving our business records). In such cases, we store relevant personal data for the time period required by the applicable law and delete the personal data as soon as the required retention period expires.
This Privacy Policy becomes active on the date indicated at the beginning of it. We may make changes to the Privacy Policy at any time. Up-to-date information will always be available on this page.
Please contact us by email at [email protected] if you have any questions.
